Keyboards are more than just data entry devices and wireless keyboards from Logitech have recently taken center stage in both desktop and laptop replacement applications.

A keyboard is just a keyboard tomost people. However, keyboard technology has evolved significantly over the years. Logitech, a company with decades of experience in producing computer accessory products, has been one of the primary innovators in the industry.

Together with other manufacturers, they have taken the plain, traditional QWERTY keyboard and developed new ergonomic wireless keyboards that push the envelope in terms of style, comfort, and convenience.

Logitech Wireless Keyboards For Laptop Computers

The keyboards that are equipped with most laptop computers are smaller versions of the full size traditional keyboards used on desktop machines. To save space the keys are placed closer together, have less travel height, and for many people cause discomfort if used for extended periods of time.

For this reason wireless keyboard replacements such as the Logitech Alto Cordless provide a user with the ability to dock their laptop and use the full sized Alto keyboard.

With the Alto cordless keyboard, keystrokes are transmitted wirelessly to an elevated base unit that connects via USB cable to the laptop. The keyboard itself has no cords to speak of, instead communicating via a 2.4 gigahertz link with the base unit. Another ergonomic feature of the Alto Cordless is that the base unit raises the laptop above the normal laptop viewing level allowing the user to view the screen at a more level, comfortable angle.

Another innovation made by Logitech is a special wireless number keypad for use with laptops. This allows the user to use a traditional number pad setup, that is present on most desktop keyboards, but available on laptops only through special function key combinations.

Communicating with the laptop through a tiny wireless dongle that slides into an available USB port, the cordless number pad can be moved to almost any comfortable position and stores in a provided carrying case when not in use.

Logitech Wireless Keyboards For Desktop Computers

The new diNovo Edge keyboard is one of Logitech's biggest design advances in several years. The result is a sleek, relatively thin, but incredibly stylish desktop keyboard with unique touch sensitive navigation controls built into the unit that operate in many ways similar to a traditional laptop touch pad.

Moving a finger across or around the edge of the TouchDisc gives the user multiple degrees of control over document and screen navigation. Also included is a slider volume control, Bluetooth connectivity, and two sets of rechargeable batteries, one of which charges automatically as the other is being used.

Okay, my wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse are ancient (I think I bought them six or seven years ago), but I absolutely love them and wouldn't trade them in for anything in the world (except maybe if I could get a cordless mouse that has a recharger rather than one that eats batteries). In my mind, wireless keyboards and mice are absolutely essential computer accessories. Both currently appear over at UnSpun by Amazon in their new Most Essential Computer Accessory list.
